Compound Annual Growth Projection Model

To provide a real-time visualization of economic and financial data, our counters use a conventional mathematical projection model. This page explains the model used for indicators that grow year-over-year, such as Gross Domestic Product (GDP).

The Formula: Discrete Annual Compounding with Linear Intra-Year Interpolation

We apply discrete annual compounding for complete years elapsed, then use linear interpolation for the fraction of the current year that has passed.

Continuous Growth Formula
Value(t)=Valuebase×(1 + r)n×(1 + r · f)

Limitations

It is crucial to understand that this counter is a visualization of a projection, not a live transactional measurement.

Models are not reality

Economic growth is not perfectly continuous; it fluctuates daily based on countless real-world events.

Cannot foresee crises

The growth rate is a past annual estimate. It cannot account for sudden crises or booms that have occurred since the data was published by our sources.

Data lag

Official data from primary sources often has a 1-2 year reporting lag. This model projects forward from the last known official data point.

This counter is an educational tool designed to visualize the scale of economic change, based on the latest available data and a transparent, defensible projection method.
